NPI Procurement Specialist - #11050
Location: Calgary, AB
As a project focused NPI Procurement Specialist, you will be part of an industry leading product development team, including vendors and designers, focused on successfully bringing products to market. Within this role, you will be responsible for procurement, logistics and vendor management for custom mechanical parts and assemblies. You will work collaboratively with Product Development and Business Operations to bring highly manufacturable and sustainable new products to volume production on time.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, action and communicate procurement strategies to meet project requirements
- Accelerate time-to-market of sustainable and manufacturable products though proactive buying and expediting of custom mechanical parts and assembly to meet critical project schedules
- Negotiate, set-up and procure the tooling for cable assemblies, machined\stamped parts, injection molded plastics and die casted parts
- Interface with suppliers to reduce lead-times while maintaining quality to meet tight project schedules
- Promote and support communication between vendors –engineering – procurement
- Assist projects in selecting appropriate vendors and promoting use of preferred vendor list
- Proactively eliminating project risks associated with manufacturability, fabrication process and vendor capability
- Supply material status updates to project managers and other stakeholders
- Continuously improving the product development process by identifying, communicating and correcting reoccurring issues
Qualifications:
Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or comparable discipline
- Demonstrated experience in project-based sourcing with a mechanical focus
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a strategic sourcing role
- Knowledge and exposure to SCM best practices
- Proven leadership of cross-functional teams, with specific experience in facilitation roles
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve set objectives and deliverables
- Effective communication (verbal/written) with all levels from executive management to front line employees
- Interpersonal and leadership skills to promote strategic sourcing initiatives with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to confront and resolve issues as they arise
- Demonstrated multi-tasking abilities
- Ability to know when to seek help if things are not going as planned or as needed to achieve results
Nice-to-Have:
- Certification as a Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P. or C.P.M.) or other professional designation
- Working knowledge of MRP /ERP
- Experience working in Continuous Improvement environment
